President, Successful Equity Management
Board Member, McLaren Oakland Foundation
“A goal without a plan is just a wish.”
Laura feels fortunate. Guided by the principles of integrity, honesty, and passion, she’s proud to have built a successful investment firm, and to continue to push herself to grow. With her success and a desire to give back, she turned her focus to philanthropy.
“It was, and is unimaginable to me the magnitude of the struggles so many people face every day,” she says of the people facing poverty and poor health in our community. Her desire to help goes beyond writing a check, to include volunteering and learning about philanthropy.
Her service on the McLaren Oakland Foundation board connected her to Planned Giving Roundtable members, and eventually led to her joining. She appreciates her relationships with Roundtable members, and their knowledge and collegiality.
About the benefits of PGRTSEM, Laura states, “Every meeting I attend I learn something, and meet someone who expands my involvement and knowledge in philanthropy. It has been the greatest education tool I could have added to my tool belt. I learn every day in my personal and business life that there are so many people out there willing to share their ideas and help.”
Laura is among those people willing to share and help, with great effect. The McLaren Oakland Foundation presented her the Tribute to Excellence award for her board service and success in fundraising.
Laura’s family comes foremost in her life, and she is blessed with healthy children and grandchildren. Together with her strong Christian faith, her family is central to her life. Gratitude for the blessings of family drive her need to help children who are less fortunate.
